Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown returns for a new Season. The weekly series is broadcast on a new night, with a new lineup of star contenders. This season's tournament features twenty five stars each competing for the $250,000 cash pool for donation to the charities of their choice. All players are guaranteed at least $5,000 and championship winners will each get $100,000 for donation to charity. This season is hosted by Kids in the Hall and Will and Grace comedian Dave Foley, with additional running commentary from professional poker player Phil Gordon. Gordon has $1,150,000 worth of poker winnings in the past two years under his belt, and has most recently finished first at the World Poker Tour: Bay 101 Shooting Stars Tournament.
Each episode is filmed before a live studio audience and features five celebrities in competition against each other. Each episode's winner goes on to compete in the sixth's episode's final championship. Hidden cameras keep viewers informed of the various hands held by star players. After losing, eliminated players are escorted to the "Loser's Lounge," where they can view the remaining matches via closed circuit television, as well as broadcast their comments on the show.
This season's contenders include Friend's star Matthew Perry, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Dave Navarro, comedians Chevy Chase and Kathy Griffin, actors Angela Bassett, Macaulay Culkin and many others. Winners from the previous three seasons include Actress Nicole Sullivan ("King of Queens"), ER's Maura Tierney, and Seth Myers of Saturday Night Live.
