Poker, traditionally conceived as a "man's game" may be changing its image. According to a press release by Bluff Magazine, the poker publication has recently become inundated by Mother's Day subscription orders. Husbands giving the gift of Bluff Magazine seem to have noticed that women are becoming increasingly interested in poker. Of course, another possibility is that husbands are seeking out gifts that they themselves can also enjoy.
Whatever the reason, the fact still remains that women's interest in the game of poker is on the rise, with 35% of the poker community currently being comprised of women. Some have predicted that in the coming years the ratio of female to male poker players will become 50/50 or even lean in favor of women.
Eric Morris, publisher of Bluff Magazine, sees women's piqued interest in poker as being inspired by female poker stars, such as Annie Duke, on televised poker tournaments. And Bluff is bowing to the demographic shift, offering contributions by female pros, including Duke, in each issue.
