CYOP Systems International Inc., a provider of online skill-based tournaments and video games announced plans to zero-in on the budding Asian e-gaming market with its online poker software offering. The Asian market is soon expected to achieve the critical mass necessary for online poker ventures and CYOP plans to hit the market while it's hot. According to one estimation, the online gaming industry in the Asia/Pacific region (not including Japan) is expected to reap $1.84 billion in revenues by 2008, double what it earned in 2003.
Recent reports have estimated that internet users in China are logged online for an average of 12.3 hours a week, and gaming/entertainment constitutes the second most popular online pursuit. Moreover, between 2004 and the end of 2005, the number of internet users in China is expected to jump from 94 million to 120 million, an increase of 28 percent.
In order to be ready for the explosion of the Asian online gaming market, CYOP has begun translation of its online poker games into relevant languages. Its CrediPlay financial systems were previously localized into both traditional and simplified Chinese.
