Interactive television developer and distributor Buzztime Entertainment yesterday announced the release of its new multiplayer Texas Hold'em game for digital cable TV. The interactive poker game allows players in living rooms across the U.S. to link up and play against each other. Buzztime® Texas Hold'em is currently available in more than 1,000 NTN iTV Network locations. Previous Buzztime offerings, including trivia and sports games, have been available for close to 20 years.
Buzztime Texas Hold'em offers the traditional no-limit Texas Hold'em that has taken the world by storm. Poker celebrity Phil Gordon is also "on hand," dispensing playing tips throughout the game.
Both Buzztime and cable operators will share in the fees paid by subscribers to play the Texas Hold'em game. Despite paying to play, subscribers will earn neither money nor prizes for their wins, in an attempt to comply wholly with state gaming standards. Nonetheless, the game does give top players onscreen recognition, with point leaders and round winners being presented following each hand.
