WPT Enterprises, Inc., creator of the televised World Poker Tour and its branded products, announced the promotion of company president Steve Lipscomb to Chief Executive Officer. In addition to serving the new post of CEO, Lipscomb will also continue to serve as president of WPTE. Lipscomb succeeds outgoing CEO, Lyle Berman, who has been given the position of Executive Chairman of the Board. Both Lipscomb and Berman's new positions went into effect on April 1, 2005.
As noted by Lyle Berman in a company press release, "I am very pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Lipscomb as the company's Chief Executive Officer… The company's dramatic growth over the past three years can be attributed in large part to Steve's vision, dedication, and focus on executing the business plan."
WPT Enterprises is in the constant move to expand the brand's distribution. WPTE licenses its name to companies who wish to brand their products with the WPT name. WPT branded poker equipment and instruction, apparel, publishing, electronic and wireless entertainment, DVD/home entertainment, casino games and giftware are available or are currently in development.
