Cashing in on the increasing popularity of poker among college students, online poker room Absolute Poker announced a new tournament geared especially toward students, coined the "College Poker Challenge." Absolute poker will pay for tournament winner's fall semester college tuition and will award 2nd through 9th place winners prizes, such as a laptop and iPods. The main event is scheduled for May 26th, with five qualifying satellite tournaments to be held prior to that date. The top 400 players in each satellite will qualify for the final event.

"We realize how popular poker, and specifically Texas Hold'em, is among College Students, and this is a great way for students to have fun and, for one lucky student, to win his or her tuition."
In addition to sponsoring the scholarship tournament, Absolute poker has devoted an entire site to college students, at www.absolutepoker.com/college. The site features special promotions and contests, which will give poker-playing college kids the chance to win, among other opportunities, internships and the title of Miss Absolute Poker.
