A new organization serving poker players around the world has just launched. The National Poker Association (NPA) strives to offer poker players with assistance and to help encourage the game's popularity and legitimacy across the world.
Wes Parker, President of the NPA, said that poker's rising popularity has lent the game a level of recognition, never before attained. "It's not played in secret, smoke-filled, back rooms anymore," he said. "Poker is mainstream America, whether it is a friendly game in the home, or in a world championship tournament. And now, with the NPA, players can enjoy the benefits they deserve."
NPA membership provides poker players with resources such as listings for all major poker tournaments, an online poker newsletter, updates on poker legislation and contact information for casinos throughout the world. In addition, the NPA has teamed up with a number of companies in the casino and entertainment sector, allowing the organization to offer its members discounts and benefits on travel and entertainment products and services.
