Online poker room "The World Poker Exchange" is building up its celebrity lineup for the London Open 2005, slated to take place from August 3rd to 6th. The World Poker Exchange's London Open is seeking out stars of both the big and small screen, as well as sports and music, to battle it out against poker pros and laymen online qualifiers for the $2 million prize pool. Current celebrity poker players on the roster include Willie Garson, Nicholas Gonzalez, Richard Kind and Mimi Rogers.
In addition to actual poker tournament action, the London Open prides itself in being a lifestyle tournament, meaning that a substantial part of the event will be devoted to entertainment. This includes a private concert, as well as a separate charity poker tournament and VIP reception, complete with performances by Dirty Vegas, Grace Jones and DJ Guy Preston.
World Poker Exchange Managing Director Haden Ware is of the opinion that the "World Poker Exchange will elevate both players' and viewers' expectations about what world class tournament provides and will literally raise the bar on gaming events."
The London Open combines the hottest elements of poker today by combining online poker land-based poker and televised poker. Ordinary online poker players can enter the London Open by playing in the World Poker Exchange's qualifying satellite tournaments. The London Open will be aired on Bravo, as a prime-time feature event.
