St. Louis is searching for the city's best poker player, while at the same time, hoping to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The 24th annual Budweiser Poker Classic will host opening rounds on August 16th and August 23rd. Both opening rounds will play the seven card stud poker variation. Winners of both opening rounds will advance to the semi-finals, which will take place on August 24th. Seven semi-finalists will then advance to the finals, which will be played that same night.
As the event is strictly played for charity, the winner won't take home any actual prize (aside from a tournament trophy), but he or she will be crowned the "Best Poker Player in St. Louis."
Tournament costs are covered by its sponsor, Grey Eagle Distributors, the local Anheuser-Busch wholesaler. As tournament costs are already paid for, poker players are left to lay down a donation to MDA. Grey Eagle has suggested a $30 donation for playing in one preliminary round, $50 for two. Players wanting to reserve a table can do so for a suggested donation of $175.
