The Commerce Casino, home to the world's biggest land-based poker room, hosted the California State Poker Championship on Friday, using the occasion to unveil its newly revamped site, http://www.commercecasino.com. Commerce added a variety of new features, making for a significantly more interactive site.
Possibly the most major improvement to the site, commercecasino.com now allows online preregistration for upcoming poker tournaments. Commerce expects the preregistration feature to be well-received. "As poker tournaments continue to draw unprecedented numbers of players, it is imperative that Commerce Casino, the world's largest poker room, effectively manage the registration for our million dollar tournaments. On-site registration has become too unwieldy and this will relieve everyone of the tedium of registering 600-1000 people on site in the hour or two before a tournament begins," said Tim Gustin, Commerce Casino Manager.
In addition to preregistration, the new site also includes short snippets of advice from some of the top pro poker players, an online retailer, tournament results, intro to poker info and recommended poker reads, as well as a webcam with a view onto the casino floor (which is not yet up and running). Lastly, the souped up site allows poker players to sign up for the "Bring Your Home Game to Commerce" program, through which players can schedule to have their own home games hosted at the casino.
