The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada has announced that it will play host to new televised poker series on the Game Show Network (GSN) and Fox Sports Net (FSN).
The GSN series, "High Stakes Poker," will have wealthy business executives testing their poker-playing skills head-to-head against professionals, each risking large amounts of their own money, in cash games with a $100,000 buy-in.
As players stand to win or lose large amounts of each other's own money, the series' cash game innovation promise to be quite exciting. Among the poker pros to be featured in the series are Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Jennifer Harmon, Barry Greenstein, and Phil Hellmuth.
The FSN series, "Poker Superstars," will consist of 36 episodes in this, its third, season. No less than 24 premier poker players, such as Johnny Chan, Chris Ferguson, Todd Brunson, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Chris Moneymaker, are scheduled to appear.
"High Stakes Poker" is scheduled to be produced at the Golden Nugget between November 2nd and 4th,, while "Poker Superstars" will be taped from November 9th to the 16th, but both shoots will be closed to the public. GSN plans to debut its show on January 16th, 2006, while FSN will air its series beginning March 12th, 2006.
