Two of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players, Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Moses Malone, were on hand in Trelawney, Jamaica, to take part in a poker tournament at the Legends of Basketball meetings. The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), which consists of more than 1,000 retired players from the NBA, ABA, and the Harlem Globetrotters, added some extra spice to this year's round of Legends meetings with a weekend-ending poker tournament that was sponsored by Sportsbook.com.
Beating out 29 other former professional basketball superstars, Cliff Meely, formerly of the Houston Rockets, won the tournament. As the poker tournament was the highlight of the Legends of Basketball meetings for many of the players, Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director of Sportsbook.com, let it be known that "we hope to do it again in the future."
