In an unprecedented move, a British multi-millionaire will be offering Mike Tyson's former Las Vegas mansion to the winner of a reality TV poker series. Dominic Marrocco, a 32-year-old self-made business tycoon, purchased Tyson's estate for a reported $4 million last year. Marrocco wants to put a unique spin on poker to fuel the increasingly popular game's recent boom.
Contestants on the show will have to post a still undetermined, but presumably large, entry fee to buy a seat in the poker tournament. When all is said and done, four skilled players will end up seated around the final table along with Marrocco and none other than the former world champion boxer, Mike Tyson himself. That's right, in a winner-take-all six-person final table, the now bankrupt Tyson will be given the opportunity to reclaim his home, if he plays his cards right.
Unsure whether to simply run the tournament on his own or hand over the reigns to professional television executives, Marrocco realizes the business potential in creating such a reality show. Noting that "Poker is really popular in both the US and UK and reality TV is massive too," the Brit said that he wanted to make the most of his opportunity "to combine the two and, in a great twist, give Mike Tyson the chance to win back his home." For now, Marrocco plans to host the final table of the show on the basketball court located in the Las Vegas mansion's backyard.
Marrocco and Tyson have a history. After purchasing the lot, the businessman gave Tyson back, as a gift, many of the items that he had accumulated during his glory years in the ring. Tyson, currently living in a two-bedroom residence in neighboring Arizona, would surely welcome the opportunity to move back to his old house, too. But first, the retired pugilist must fight his way through four poker aces and the current king of his castle.
