You've heard of fantasy football and fantasy basketball, so why not fantasy poker? ESPN and Bluff Magazine have joined forces to supply poker fans with a fantasy league of their own, with the just released Fantasy Poker Challenge. Also, unlike many fantasy leagues, this one is free to enter.
Fantasy players have to select seven of their favorite poker players from within the league database to comprise their team without going over a "salary cap." Players in the database have been ranked and given a "fantasy salary." Over the course of six months, during which 13 circuit tournaments will be played, ESPN and Bluff will track the statistics of your team, and you will accrue points based on the results your team members achieve. Over the six-month period, fantasy players are allowed to substitute team members, but not on days a tournament is being played.
The fantasy leaguer who accumulates the most points will win a trip to Australia to participate in a fantasy poker camp with Annie Duke and Howard Lederer.
