The reason most superstar athletes achieve so highly in their respective sports is their competitive drive. For the second straight year, some Major League Baseball stars will be channeling their competitive passions to the poker tables at the Cory Lidle Celebrity Poker Tournament in Las Vegas. Half of the total proceeds will be divided as prize money among the winners of the tournament, while the other half will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Baseball greats Jason Giambi, Jermaine Dye, David Wells, Adam Dunn, Eric Chavez, Bret Saberhagen, and, of course, Cory Lidle, are scheduled to compete in the event alongside poker pro Thomas "Thunder" Keller and FOX sportscaster Lisa Guerrero. Average Joes are also welcome to participate in the poker tournament, which costs $1,200 to enter. With just 20 tables in the tournament, recreational players have an excellent chance of being seated next to a baseball slugger and a 5% shot at rubbing shoulders with the sexy Guerrero, who recently appeared in Playboy magazine. If a full house of poker players shows up and you find yourself seated next to "Thunder" Keller, however, you'll be hard-pressed to walk away with any money from the $120,000 prize pool.
