The fifth season of the World Poker Tour (WPT) will feature a stop at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The hugely successful WPT will most likely give away more than $250 million in prize money in this, its fifth season. Mandalay Bay, one of the larger hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, with 3,644 rooms, houses a poker room that contains 10 tables which run 24 hours a day.
WPT Enterprises, Inc. CEO Steve Lipscomb expressed his joy at landing the Mandalay Bay as yet another premium venue for the poker tour. With stops already booked at the Mirage and Bellagio, two other MGM-Mirage Las Vegas casino properties, Lipscomb reveled as his company "scored a trifecta with ... the best Las Vegas has to offer." The fifth World Poker Tour season begins in mid-May with the Mirage Poker Showdown, and will conclude at the end of April with the WPT World Championships at the Bellagio. With the added Mandalay Bay tour stop complementing these two bookend poker events, the WPT is set to offer its viewers some riveting poker action.
