Binion's Gambling Hall in downtown Las Vegas has been the home of the World Series of Poker's final table for over 30 years. The world-famous casino will now also house the first ever Hawaiian Open of Poker. As gambling is illegal in Hawaii, the Aloha State's poker club is taking its show on the road to Las Vegas to determine who the island's best poker player is.
The Hawaiian Poker Open will be taking place from February 26th-28th. The No-Limit Texas Hold 'em tournament is open to Hawaiian residents ages 21 and up, and costs $1,000 to enter. Important to note, the buy-in doesn't cover travel expenses, hotel accommodations, or the $100 entry fee. So, unless a Hawaiian resident happens to be in the Vegas area around that time, it will cost a bit extra for island locals to take part in this poker event. On the bright side, however, anyone who does participate and finds that his or her chip stack has dwindled or disappeared altogether can add on or re-buy into the tournament for an extra few hundred dollars.
