Florida law enforcement officials are taking a page out of the U.S. government's crime-fighting playbook. They have tapped the idea of using a deck of poker cards to help find wanted crime suspects. Just as the U.S. government put out the famed deck of 52 poker cards to help catch Saddam Hussein and other international war criminals, law enforcement professionals in southern Florida have created a special deck of poker cards featuring pictures of 52 victims of unsolved crimes in the southern part of the state.
There is one difference in strategy, however, as, in Florida, the poker cards will only be distributed among convicted inmates. Poker being one of the more popular activities among prisoners, it is hoped that inmates will recognize the victims featured on the cards while playing, and provide information that might help lead to the criminals' being caught. The poker cards have already started to prove their worth, with two suspects arrested as a result of an inmate reporting information to Crime Stoppers, after seeing a victim he recognized on one of the poker cards.
