Poker is big, but still not as big as soccer, the world's most popular sport. But one online poker room, Goalpoker.com, has dedicated itself to bringing these two pastimes together in an attempt to give its players double the excitement. The online poker site's newest promotion will send 10 top poker players to the UEFA Champions League Final in May, one of whom will also receive Goalpoker.com's Champions League of Poker Trophy for his or her poker prowess.
Interested online poker players need to post a $10 buy-in fee to participate in the promotion. After many grueling rounds of tournament competition, Goalpoker.com will single out the top 10 poker players and have them do battle at a live final table in a land-based London casino. In addition to splitting a $50,000 prize pool according to their final table placing, the 10 poker players will also be given the VIP treatment with paid flights to and from Paris, where the championship soccer game is to be held. While in Paris, the poker players will be put up in a posh hotel and be issued prime seats at the UEFA Champions League final match in The Stade de France.
