How would you feel if you had a multi-million-dollar idea stolen from right under your nose? Well that's how Jonathan Waessil, of Garden Grove, California, probably feels right now. Waessil, a poker player himself, believes that Steve Lipscomb, the creator of the World Poker Tour (WPT), stole his idea to televise poker games. Apparently, Waessil and Lipscomb had met each other around 10 years ago at the Hollywood Park casino in Southern California, and had discussed the concept of televised poker. Waessil alleges that he had been working on the idea for about four years by that time, but that, when Lipscomb got wind of it, his intellectual property was stolen.
Understandably aggravated at the lost opportunity to make millions from the televised poker idea, Waessil is using the legal system to attempt to extract a semblance of revenge from Lipscomb. He faces an uphill battle though. Like many other individuals who file suit against large corporations, Waessil's means are much more limited, thus restricting the abilities of his legal counsel to prove his case. Lipscomb's WPT venture has made him a multi-millionaire, and his company's legal team is well-equipped, to say the least, to try and prove Waessil's claim baseless.
