Online poker has been a major source of growth at 888 Holdings PLC, one of the world's leading online gaming companies. The company has just released profit figures for the 2005 fiscal year, and the charts indicate steep inclines across the board. Online poker and casino players have apparently been flocking to Casino-On-Net, Reef Club Casino, and Pacific Poker, as post-tax profits at the three 888-brand websites climbed 59%. And with 2.3 million new poker accounts opening in 2005, net poker revenues for 888 topped $109 million.
"We have announced record results today. We continue to grow whilst keeping our costs under control. Our company is more diversified both in products and geographically and we are in prime position to benefit from the industry consolidation that is inevitable ... I am extremely proud of our brand and management, which will be key to our continued success," said John Anderson, the company's CEO.
