Out with the old Phil, in with the new Phil. That seemed to be the credo of hit poker series Celebrity Poker Showdown this week, as Phil Hellmuth was handed the reigns to co-host the show, which just saw Phil Gordon depart for greener pastures. Hellmuth will join the show's other host, comedian Dave Foley, to provide color commentary on the poker play of celebrities trying to win money for charity. And speaking of charity, Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans will be the locale for the series' eighth poker tournament, and all participating celebrities will be trying to earn money for causes benefiting victims of the natural disaster.
Aired on the Bravo television network, Celebrity Poker Showdown will now also hook up with Harrah's Entertainment. The gaming company has arranged for the poker tournament to be filmed in its entirety at the Harrah's casino in the Big Easy. Having re-opened on February 17th, after sustaining much damage in last summer's hurricane, Harrah's New Orleans has been completely repaired and is ready to host the much-watched poker show as the official casino of Celebrity Poker Showdown.
