It seems that every week, another poker title comes to mobile gaming. And, in light of recent data, it seems that there's indeed the demand to match such a proliferation of mobile poker games. Telephia, a mobile research company, reported that poker games have taken up over 20 percent of the top deck slots among the major U.S. mobile carriers. The data also demonstrated that Cingular, Verizon, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile, the leading U.S. carriers, each had at least two separate poker games among their top 15 bestsellers. Still more impressive, three of the four mobile leaders included one or more poker game in their "featured" deck.
Although poker was one of the most popular game types among mobile titles, overall revenue for card/casino games constituted just 17 percent of the overall revenue share for mobile games in the U.S. In contrast, puzzle/strategy games brought in 29 percent of revenue share. This difference can be attributed, at least in part, to price. Card and casino games go for an average of $3.85 per game, while puzzle and strategy games sell for $4.69 on average.
