Anurag Dikshit, PartyGaming's 34-year-old co-founder, is making his debut today on the Asian Rich List, ranking in at number three with approximately $3 billion in wealth. Like many of Asia's rich, Dikshit came from humble beginnings and won his wealth through his own pursuits, in this case, the pursuit of online poker.
This online poker success story begins in 1998, when Dikshit entered into a major business venture, which would ultimately become PartyGaming, with Internet porn tycoon Ruth Parasol. Parasol had pinpointed poker and casino gaming as the next big thing to hit the Internet, and thus sold her online porn interests in favor of being the first to usher in the trend. Dikshit joined Parasol, bringing with him the technological knowhow necessary to build an online gaming empire. Dikshit received a major stock in the then-fledgling online poker company. A year after PartyGaming opened its stocks to public trading, Dikshit owns a 32 percent stake in the online poker giant.
