Christian Junior Academy Principal in Lake City, Idaho, was recently given a misdemeanor citation alleging that she broke a state law requiring immediate reporting by school officials of suspected child abuse or neglect. Police documents show that Principal Twila Brown learned that teacher Andy Armstrong played strip poker with his students during a camping trip, but did not inform their parents or authorities for nearly a week.
Nevertheless, although Brown was cited, local authorities reportedly said that the 42-year-old poker-playing teacher broke no law. Chief Deputy Prosecutor Lansing Haynes stated that no law applied to Armstrong's participation in the strip poker game in which losers removed clothing items. Detectives assigned to the case said that Armstrong did not ask his students to get naked, but only to strip down to their underwear.
Armstrong was suspended from his position at the private school and later on dismissed. The Christian school and Camp MiVoden on Hayden Lake, where the alleged strip poker incident took place, are run by the Upper Columbia Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
