Veteran actor Dennis Farina, who has played the role of NYPD Detective Joe Fontana on "Law & Order" for two years, recently announced that he was quitting the popular NBC series. Lori De Waal, Farina's spokeswoman, was reported as saying that the 62-year-old Farina was scheduled to join the cast of a new poker movie The Grand.
Among other known actors, the list of stars designed to appear in The Grand includes prominent names, such as Woody Harrelson, Cheryl Hines, Ray Romano, and "Seinfeld"s George, Jason Alexander. The film, centered around an actual Las Vegas poker tournament, is scheduled to begin shooting next month.
Thus far, we have seen Farina in several famous productions, like Saving Private Ryan, Snatch and Get Shorty. The shortlist of the future poker-playing actor's TV credits includes Empire Falls, Crime Story, Miami Vice and, until recently, detective Joe Fontana on Law & Order.
