The Cincinnati Club, a prominent poker club in Glasgow, Scotland, was recently raided by local police officers. According to a police spokesperson, Strathclyde officers, operating in cooperation with inspectors from the Gambling Commission, confiscated thousands of pounds, the venue's cards and poker chips.
At the time of the raid, there were 35 players at the poker club, four off-duty policemen among them. Some witnesses were reported as saying that the police apparently believed the the club's operators had been engaged in illegal activities by taking a certain cut from each hand during poker games.
Nevertheless, Dave Colclough, a director of The Cincinnati Club, stated that he was confident that no charges would be filed. According to police, despite the raid, the poker club is allowed to continue operations. The police also said that officers had interviewed a number of people in connection with the raid and that the investigation on the case was ongoing.
