The Poker Players Alliance, a non-profit organization supporting and advocating on behalf of U.S. poker industry, recently publicized the fact that prominent poker players and WSOP champions Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Greg "Fossilman" Raymer have officially joined the organization's Board of Directors. The PPA's board of directors already includes popular figures, such as Linda Johnson, Howard Lederer and Jan Fisher.
Ferguson started his poker career back in 1989 when he learned about the IRC Poker Network. In 1996, he won a seat in the World Series of Poker, and in 2000, went on to nab the event's grand prize. Raymer, a professional patent attorney, played online poker for several years, and won a spot at the 2004 WSOP via an Internet poker website. He was the first player ever to collect $5 million after winning a poker tournament.
Commenting on his new position on the PPA Board, Ferguson was quoted as saying, "The Poker Players Alliance's mission to defend the integrity of poker makes the organization so critical in defeating attacks by Congress and others. I look forward to becoming more involved in educating the public and lawmakers about our great game of poker and working to ensure that this American tradition is protected."
