Online poker rooms are employing new tactics to differentiate their sites from others and to individualize themselves in the growing competition.
Now it has been announced that comic actor and poker buff Jason Alexander is to be a celebrity spokesperson or officially ''international celebrity ambassador for online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com)
Alexander is best known for playing in the American hit comedy series Seinfeld's as George Constanza a nerdy loser.
Yet Alexander has also participated in NBC'S made-for-TV poker competition ''Heads-up Poker''.
Alexander a graduate of Boston University will promote the Poker Stars brand by participating in online and live poker events, including the upcoming 2009 WSOP as well as Poker Stars-sponsored tournaments around the globe.
In an official press release Alexander said
''Poker Stars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players. I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I'm learning. And now I can learn from some of the best.''
Other currently serving the role of ''international celebrity ambassador'' are pro hockey player Mats Sundin, former pro tennis player Boris ''Boom Boom'' Becker and former pro baseball player Orel Hershiser.
